An Astonishing Lack of Progress on the House

For the majority of this week, there has been no progress on the house – then in the last 24 hours there has been a tiny flurry!

We had no correspondence from anyone between Thursday and Monday, except a message from the Estate Agent on Monday saying the Solicitor had been in touch and was sending the report over and wanted to know where the money was.

Let’s look at the timeline first to see where we’re at:

house timeline 5

While it may look like a fair amount of writing, really nothing has happened to begin progressing until late on Tuesday evening with the final receipt of a mound of paperwork that now has to be gone through and checked by us – because there is no way we’re going to be signing away as something as big and important as this without having read anything through!

Other than a higher than expected bill – which is being queried – our main concern is that we have been identified as being in an area known for Radon Gas, which is apparently a radioactive gas that naturally occurs in rocks and soil (eep this does not sound good) so need to look into this further to see if we are likely to be poisoning ourselves, although I’m hoping as the top two flats above us sold only last year that this isn’t too much of a concern.

Has anybody else had any dealings with Radon Gas when purchasing a house?
